That’s why we’re on the lookout for additional ambitious and resilient Business Development Managers to join our Business Growth team.
As part of our experienced team of experts you’ll be an integral part of helping both new and existing clients understand the value of the UK’s innovative incentives, including R&D tax, evaluating their eligibility whilst championing us as the leading provider in all conversations. Using a sophisticated approach you’ll create, manage and convert your own relationships through high levels of personalised outreach. Our collaborative culture means you’ll work closely with our broader team to develop relationships and opportunities with prospects identified through our work with industry associations, accountancy practices and other referrers too.

Key duties and responsibilities
- Educate our future clients and partners on the changes to innovative incentives in the UK, as well as our market leading end-to-end claim preparation service and advisory services (including enquiries, development of in-house teams, due diligence and advice on international R&D programmes).
- Use a sophisticated approach to understand the needs, goals and challenges of businesses, and demonstrate the value that ForrestBrown can provide to them as an innovative, market leading advisor, in order to generate new business.
- Develop strong relationships with potential prospects to position ForrestBrown as a premium provider, identifying and evaluating the potential of those we can work with as clients and/or introducers.
- Create opportunities through personalised outreach across a variety of channels - including targeted calls, email, LinkedIn.
- Work collaboratively with Directors, the wider Business Growth Team and our R&D Practice, to identify and proactively develop opportunities for new business.
- Work with your colleagues to develop prospects from industry associations, other referral sources and our existing client universe.
- Uses Salesforce effectively to manage your relationships and prospects pipeline, to allow for accurate forecasting and reporting, and to ensure you meet your KPI's
- Ability to proactively manage a sales pipeline, with a mix of prospects from across a variety of channels. Demonstrate an understanding of your pipeline in terms of prioritising opportunities, moving them through the stages and ensuring you are managing your activity in order to achieve your revenue targets.
- As a representative of ForrestBrown, maintain consistently high standards of professional conduct, communication and behaviour.
- Share sales best practice, knowledge and experience with your wider team, helping to build skills and experience for team success.
- National client base with regular travel - we love meeting our clients face to face where and when we can.
- Expectations to deliver £500,000 of business a year.
Qualities and skills
- Entrepreneurial, ambitious and resilient.
- Passion for innovation and for representing a high value service to innovative clients in the UK.
- Enthusiastic about developing own leads and developing key relationships with prospects.
- Ability to proactively build and manage a sustainable pipeline of business.
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable with C-suite individuals and ability to adapt to different audiences/preferences.
- Desire to learn and understand the R&D incentive - with the ability to assimilate technical knowledge quickly and communicate appropriately.
- A self starter when it comes to getting things done and solving problems.
Qualifications and experience
- 5+ years' experience in a fast-paced B2B relationship development, business development or account management role.
- Experience in, or working with, businesses in industries such as fintech, SaaS, engineering, professional services or a tech startup would be advantageous.
- Experience of selling high value, complex services at C-Suite level.
- Demonstrable success in delivering against KPI's and targets.
- Experience of using a CRM such as Salesforce.
